Classic and great looking flag material that combines extremely rich, vibrant, long-lasting colors. Ideal for special flag flying holidays and ceremonies, this extra rugged weave actually exceeds U.S. Government specifications and the most modern dyeing techniques ensuring brilliant colors that are fast to sun and rain. The Cotton flag is a fair weather flag. For optimal longevity, take the flag in before a storm or extremely high winds. Cotton flags offer the best overall appearance. They have the most vibrant red, white, and blue colors. Cotton is also the traditional flag material for Internment (Casket) flags.
Our Cotton flags are carefully manufactured using traditional heavyweight 2x2 ply mercerized cotton bunting. 2x2 ply means that the threads in the flag are 2 ply in both directions - vertically and horizontally. 2 ply means that when the threads are woven into cloth, two threads are twisted around each other, creating a stronger thread for more durability. John Mercer was the inventor of the process called mercerized. His process alters the structure of the cotton fibers themselves by making the inside wall of the fiber swell and shrink the overall size of the material, making the material stronger, easier to dye and have a softer hand (feel) .
